1/4 c shortening 1/2 c molasses 2 t salt 6 c flour 2 cvery warm water 2 ea egg 2 ea yeast
Add ingredients, in order--use only 2 cups of flour to start-- to mixing bowl. Beat at medium low for 3 minutes. Stir in 3 to 31/2 cups flour to make a very stiff dough. Cover and let rise 15 minutes. (Optional, knead dough and let rise till doubled before shaping)
Toss on heavily floured surface until no longer sticky. Divide in half, then divide each half into 16 portions. Shape into balls; place 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheets (or shape rolls as desired). Cover; let rise in warm place until very light or doubled in size, 45 to 60 minutes.
Bake at 375 for 15 to 18 minutes.
