1 csoft butter, unsalted 1 ea egg 1 T water 3 1/4 c flour, all purpose 1 t ground cinnamon 1/4 t nutmeg 1/2 t vanilla extract 1 1/2 c sugar 2 T molasses 1 tor less, to taste Orange peel 1 t baking soda 1/2 t ginger, powdered
Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add egg, molasses, water and orange peel; mix well.
Combine dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture, beating well after each addition.
Cover and chill 2 hours.
On lightly floured surface, roll dough to 1/8 inch. Cut into desired shapes and place on ungreased baking sheet.
Bake 375 for 6-8 minutes till lightly brown. Cool on wire racks.
For icing, combine 1 cup confectionery sugar with 1 or 2 Tbl milk to a drizzling consistency. Ice as desired.
